Library's Book
Sale Is Scheduled
Announcement of a book
sale at Othello Community
Library was made this week
by city librarian, Mrs. Jim
McDonald.
The sale begins Dec. 9 and
will include damaged, ob-
solete and discarded books at
10 to 50 cents per volume.
According to Mrs. Mc-
Donald, the sale will include a
good selection of childrens'
books as well as adult fiction
and non-fiction.
are like magnets in the way
they attract color from other
clothes. Also, body oils build
up on the material.
Continue to use warm
water. Be sure you're using
enough detergent, and add
about one and one-half cups of
water softener to each load.
But the most important thing
to remember is to wash white
nylon clothes only with other
white clothes--nothing color-
ed.
That should do the trick.
My kids really made me
mad this Thanksgiving. I
slaved for hours over that
turkey and what did they do?
They'd take one bite and
reach for a glass of water. All
they said was, "It's so dry."
What can I do before I have a
repeat performance with the
Christmas turkey?
You could serve ham or
goose.
However, there is an easy
way to make turkey more
moist--besides basting. Eunice
Meakin, Extension nutrition-
ist at WSU, suggests simply
'roasting the bird upside
down. Bake the turkey breast-
side down until the last half
hour; then turn it over to
brown the skin.
I'm going to make a velvet

Thanks to modern technol-
ogy, buying velvet is not as
simple as it once was.
However, you can also thank
technology for a lot of
desirable features you could-
n't get a few years ago.
To determine the quality of
velvet, look straight down
into the pile. If the light
strikes evenly, without shad-
ing, the pile is as erect as it
should be.
If you buy a nylon velvet,
