FRIDAY. DECEMBER 12, 1952 T H E O T H E L L O O U T L O O K PAG E SEVEN HAVE YOU DONATED YOUR OLD BOOKS TO THE JR. CHAMBER LIBRARY BOOK DRIVE? Do so today! DEAR SANTA-- The following letter was printed in the Inland Register in December. 1951. ,Many people think of Christ- ~mas as time tp make merry and rejoice with gifts, tryir~g to get something ,better than someone else. Most children think of Christmas as ,getting up on the morning of Christmas and open- ir~g their gifts, or at night the family gathers around the tree ,and unwraps the gifts, never once thinking what Christmas really is. Very small children are not old enot~gh to really un- derstand, ~but they can ~be told o.nd taught .what it is about or from, or why it is. If ~people ,would look at the word "CIhristmas" they would • ~ee the .word "Christ" is in it C~ris~mas ,~ras started over 1900 years ago when a tiny baby was born in a manger. This ,baby was "Jesus Christ" the Son of God. He was the savior of men. ~-Ie died for us on the Cross of Calvary. It is the sate with other days such as ThanksgivinJg. So when I open my gifts on Christmas I will remember this is a more important day than just for opening gifts. Speaking of gifts, I have sovoe gLTts I would like granted. One is that Communism never shall reach us in Americaso we may olways be free to worship Him our Savior, on Christmas at Mass, at home, or any place at all! Another wish is that on Christmas that some ,poor peo- ple shall .be warm and have de-x cent food ,and clothing. And another is that more people be- come religious and help us fight Communism and free the poor people of Korea and anyone be- ing held prisoners and being killed and tortured! Still anoth- er is that more people may be strong and bravv, and though fi~ey van be killed or tortured they shall have saved their soul! That ,families may be unit- ed ,forever till the end of ~he world--4 'hope in Tmace! q~hat ~vould ~be a "great C H~IS~S" Sincerely, Barbara Ann Spitzer DEAR CLASSMATES Did you enjoy my letter last week? I ha've not fbeen enjoying the remarks about it I've been hearing around school this year. I hope you will forgive me and I will try to not be so snoopy this week--if you stay out of my sight!
