NAVY RESERVE UNIT
BEING FORMED HERE
All former Navy men and
Naval ReservisLs in the Othello
area will have a chance to keep
up their status with the forma-
tion of a CB reserve unit here.
The unit now has six men in
its ranks.
Regardless of former rate or
rank in the Reserve, all men are
eligible, even though ~he rate
is not classified under the Con-
struction 'Battalion.
"The volunteer unit will af-
ford chances for 'advancement
and increase in longevity as far
as the records go," Vernon Sel-
de, Lt. JG, USNrR, acting com-
manding officer for the unit
said.

Scout bean feed held last Satur-
day evening at the school.

Rink for Othelloites
All that is lacking now for a
full-fledged ice skating arena in
Othello is cold weather.
The Kiwanis club winter pro-
ject to build a skating rink that
could be enjoyed by the whole
town hit its stride last Sunday
as Kiwani,ans and the Heintz
Construction company com-
bined forces to grade out a por-
tion of the high school football
field to form a dike surround-
ing the area.

thanks from the club members
for the "heavy" work entailed
in leveling and diking opera-
lions.
According to the Kiwani~
club, ,as soon as cold weather
permits, the flooding will be
done thus affording a conven-
ient and safe place for skater~.
